I absolutely love my Anti-Bacterial Complexion Pad by Earth Therapeutics. I had no idea these things existed until about October of '08. I swear by exfoliator and its skin-clearing capabilities (it's still completely overlooked and totally underrated). I always felt as though my measly little fingers somehow missed a surface of my face or that they didn't apply enough pressure and I would often scrub my face into a red frenzy. So I thought "WOW, what if I invented a sort of face loofah!" Behold, someone thought of it already...[sigh] Ok, a big part of me was relieved. I looked it up online and saw that ULTA carried some; I wanted to check it out in person. I picked this particular one out on a whim and I've tried others, but this one is just the perfect texture. It really feels like it's doing something for my skin without my applying too much pressure. And my skin feels amazing whether I use this with a face scrub or regular face wash. They're under $4 pre-tax and the directions say that with every day use, they last for 3 months. I just buy a few of them and when I open the newest one, I use a permanent marker to write the date that the pad needs to be thrown out (else I'm left wondering when I bought it and how long it's been and if February counts as a whole month because it's a total runt and has less days then all the other months and then I realize it's already March and Easter is coming up soon.....ALL while washing my face) So just decide right away when you'll throw it out and be faithful to the date you write on the little tag that's hanging off it. Other awesome things about my love affair: not tested on animals, recyclable, environmentally friendly and won't leave me for another face. I can't live without it!

I love inexpensive products that work well. Especially inexpensive makeup that works just as well, if not better, than department store makeup. I came across the discount bin in CVS the other day (and yes, I looked in the discount bin and you know you do too probably hoping you find an accidentally discounted and clearly misplaced tub of La Mer...) and picked up Physicians Formula Conceal Rx Physicians Strength Concealer (phew) for $2.49. Not because I needed it. No, no. I have enough concealer to camouflage the dark under-eye circles of a small nation of online gamers with a relative population matching, say, that of China. The official website says it usually retails for $8.75. That's a deep 71% discount math majors. More importantly, I have to try everything. Whenever I see things discounted, I really have to wonder why they aren't selling? At $2.49, I really wasn't expecting any miracles. So, on with my morning routine and I'm using this stuff and I find that I'm quite impressed. But we all know that the true test of makeup is how long it lasts. By golly it did. I'm out of the house at 7 AM and not back till 5:30 PM and this stuff is still going....until I wash off my makeup at 10:30 PM (and I still look fresh and wide-eyed with no reapplication whatsoever.) It seriously competes with MAC Select Cover-Up at $15.50. The thing about MAC Select Cover-Up is that the consistency is quite fluid. Physicians Formula is thicker so you're not layering your concealer. Layering isn't a bad thing, but I just don't have time for it. MAC Select has it's advantages though: fuller range of colors; can be used under or over foundation and...yeah, that's about it actually. You'll do well to use a primer or line-filler so that any concealer you're using isn't settling into the laugh lines around your eyes (that's right, I said laugh lines! because no one here frowns). I personally think certain concealers go under foundation and other concealers go over foundation. Physicians Formula Rx definitely goes under foundation because it's an industrial strength foundation and the color should be brought back to match your face coloring with the foundation. There's also Soft Green and Soft Yellow for more targeted issues. I'm thinking about picking up another tube. Or two. Or fifteen.... Have you used MAC Select Cover-Up or Physicians Formula Conceal Rx? Let me know what you think! Happy concealing!

I love makeup. I know a lot of other girls do too, but I'd venture to say that my obsession needs medical attention (my family would agree). From the moment I started wearing makeup, I've always thought about perfecting everything, from production to application. A funny thing started happening- people began asking "How?" about everything from skin care routines to eyeliner tips to flawless base application. Not only do I love makeup, I love sharing what I know with as many people as possible.I am a total advocate of educated consumerism and nowadays, you can find a review on just about anything. So here it is: the birth of my blog. Send in questions, requests and comments at will. If I don't have the answer, I'll find someone who does. Subscribe and share with your friends. I hope you find something here that keeps you coming back!
